Raystede Rangers

Welcome to the new Raystede Event Listings for 2010. Following on from the success of last year’s Raystede Ranger sessions for 8-12’s, we are re-running some of the old favourites as well as having a go at a few new events. If your children would like to come to any of the events, please download, print and complete a booking form and return to me as soon as possible. The courses do tend to book up in advance so book early to avoid disappointment!
This year we are running two events for children of ALL ages and their families. These are the family art days on August 12th and December 21st. These sessions will offer a range of animal art activities; including making a creation to take home and contributing towards a big piece of permanent artwork on-site at Raystede. These sessions will run from 10am-3pm and cost £10 per family.
There are six new fun courses for the 4-7 age range and their families. These sessions run for 3 hours in the morning and are likely to involve Raystede exploration, trails, craft activities and stories.
For the 8-12 age range we have many more courses running throughout the school holidays. From cats and dogs to rabbits and guinea pigs – there should be an event for every animal enthusiast.

On the day
Parents drop their children off with the education officer at Raystede at 9.45am. Parents are then free to go and enjoy the day – until pick up at 3pm. Dropping off point is ‘The Den’ – the new education room! Follow signs from the carpark. Please sign your child/children in and out with Lucy, the Education Development Officer.
What to bring
Each day will consist of outdoor activities, games, arts and crafts, so children must wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy. We are all hoping for lovely sunny weather over the summer, but this is England, so please bring raincoats and wellies if the forecast is grim. On sunny days, hats and suncream are a must.
There will be an opportunity to visit our shop for those who want to. The shop sells souvenirs, pet accessories and 2nd hand goods to help raise money for the Animal Centre. It is very cheap, so a small amount of pocket money would go a long way!
And of course, let’s not forget the most important thing to bring...a packed lunch!
