Thursday 22 May
It is with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to our beloved Connie. Connie has been struggling with a few problems ever since she came to Raystede. She has fought her way through different issues and with such patience each time. She has battled with treatment for cancer and a recent operation to un-block her sinuses. She had been doing really well after the operation but unfortunately recently she began having all the familiar symptoms of her sinuses being blocked again. She was very down and taking herself off from the herd. She was struggling to get up off the floor and laying down for very long periods, which is strange for a horse. So we felt we had to make the upsetting decision to have her put to sleep.
Connie was such a beautiful soul, in temperament and looks. She quietly mothered the herd and kept them together. Often being too soft on them all. I will miss her tuneful little whinny. She was a delight to handle and be around and she will leave a very huge hole in the herd and our hearts.
Run free Connie.
