Flooding at Raystede

Tuesday 5 January

Due to the huge amount of rain that fell on Sunday, Raystede experienced flooding around the Rabbitry and Sanctuary. As a result, our hens needed to be rescued from the mud and torrential rain. Raystede staff immediately threw on their waterproofs and despite sliding around in mud and rain water, managed to move all 113 hens from the Sanctuary to a safe, dry, place. The ground staff worked hard to build the hens a temporary home and we are pleased to say that the hens are now happy, dry and settled.
