Summer Fair 2016

Tuesday 17 May

We are really excited here at Raystede as our annual Summer Fair is nearly upon us!

If you haven't done so already, make sure you have Sunday 26th June marked down in your diary, as it’s an event not to be missed.

The Fair will be open from 10am until 4pm.

We welcome 1000s of visitors every year and as usual it is set to be a fun-packed day for the whole family to enjoy.

Here are just a few of the highlights:

There will be a great selection of craft and local trade stalls exhibiting their wares, perfect for the shopaholics.

For the children (and grown-up kids!) we have a great range of inflatables.

There will also be live music and refreshments available throughout the day.

Plus lots of extra fun and games to keep the little ones amused!

The Fun Dog Show

P1020134 1

This is our favourite and most popular event at the Fair.

With eight classes, we have something for all our canine friends: Prettiest Bitch, Most Handsome Dog, Best Child Handler, Waggiest Tail, Best Raystede Rehomed Dog, Best Golden Oldie (8 years +), Dog with the Most Appealing Eyes and finally The Dog The Judge Would Most Like to Take Home. You will need to register your dog on the day if you want to take part.

Winner or not, every dog that takes part goes home with a rosette!

Even if you're not a dog owner, this is a great event to watch. It’s wonderful to see these beautiful canines making their owners so proud.

Special Guest - Sue Gardner

Morgan Under The Flags

This year Hannah Fielding, our Equine Manager, is pleased to welcome Sue Gardner to the Summer Fair.

Sue has been coming to Raystede to help the equine team. Using her horse agility equipment (comprising of obstacles not dissimilar to that in the dog agility but larger!) she has been able to help the horses and ponies with both their mental and physical exercise.

Sue is an experienced horse and human coach and we are thrilled to have her along to this event to demonstrate a course on Horse Agility with Raystede equines Cherry, Lily and Morgan.

If you have any questions, Sue will be with us all day in the equine barn sand school.

If you would like to learn more about Sue and her work, visit her website:  www.suegardner.co.uk

Thinking about adopting a dog or a cat?

If you are unsure or want to know more about our adoption process, then please join us at the Kennels or Cattery.

Val And Sol 2

Join Val Suleski and team who will be holding meet and greet sessions with some of our dogs who are waiting to find their forever homes and are available for adoption.

Although, you can’t register to adopt a dog on the day of the Fair, you can meet some of the wonderful canines we look after and we’ll happily answer any of your canine questions.

Over at the cattery our Cattery Manager, Jane Moore will be hosting four ‘backstage’ tours of our Cattery, where you will be able to see the high standard conditions the felines get to enjoy during their stay with us whilst waiting for their forever home.

Each tour is limited to 15 people and you will need to register to take part. To do this, go to Reception and put down your name to guarantee your place.

Again, like the Kennels you can’t register to adopt a cat on the day of the Fair but you can certainly have a look at the cats that are looking for their forever home.

Also at the Fair...

Our Small Animals team will be giving talks throughout the day on some of the animals in their care.

If chelonians (tortoises and terrapins) are your thing there will be informative talks in their stunning, brand new enclosure too.

Every year we rescue hundreds of chickens at Raystede. If you are interested in adopting chickens or would like to learn more on these fascinating birds, then make sure you come and listen to one of the talks being given throughout the day.

There really is something for everyone at our Summer Fair so do come and join us. We really appreciate your support to help us care for the 2,000 animals on our 43 acre site!

If you would like information on any aspect of our Summer Fair please email info@raystede.org
