Sadly, Bailey's companion Bamber the pony had many health issues and lost his fight to live last winter.
Bailey wasn’t living in ideal alpaca conditions - He wasn’t being fed the right feed and often had to compete for his dinner. He was shut up at night in a small stable and when he did come out the space wasn’t adequate.
Bailey was very frightened and confused so coming to live with us at Raystede was a huge move for him. When we sadly lost Bamber we were not sure how he would cope with life. We were worried he wouldn’t understand where his friend had gone.
The day came for Bailey to realise he was an alpaca, we knew life would be better for him if he could accept that.
He had the chance to bond with his own kind, and as soon as he joined the alpaca herd, it was like he had always been there. He is confident and friendly and the first to investigate something new.
Despite his tough and confusing start in life Bailey has found sanctuary at Raystede.
