Raystede is closed to general visitors until further notice due to the current lockdown. As an animal welfare charity, we are of course staying open to animals. Our rehoming services are available for those who would like to adopt a pet or need to give up an animal. You can begin the process online or if you need assistance please do call or email us.
We are an animal welfare charity and this is our main priority whilst working hard to keep everyone safe. We are still taking in animals in need and adopting animals out with new processes in place to keep adopters, surrenderers, and Raystede staff safe.
Animal welfare remains our number one priority and we are still providing the highest level of care for the animals on site.
Yes, we are accepting animals into Raystede. Bringing an animal to us will be by appointment only. If you need to rehome your pet/s, please contact us and we will give you the advice you need. Please click Here for more information.
Yes. We introduced a new online application process for adopters earlier in the year, which can be completed in just a few minutes. You should begin by filling out a form online (please do give us a call if you need assistance). We are not accepting any walk-in appointments as the centre is closed to general visitors.
Our expert animal care team will then consider your application and contact you if we need more details or to invite you to Raystede. Visit our Adoption pages.
If your application is successful and an animal is reserved for you, we will complete the adoption process over email, telephone, and video call as much as possible to minimise any unnecessary contact.
Small animal bondings, both on site and at home are still going ahead - please speak to a member of the Small Animals Team on 01825 880467 for any further information.

We have received many offers of foster care for which we are extremely grateful. However, we are unable to process applications for new carers wishing to foster during the pandemic.
We ask foster applicants to consider whether they can help longer term and not just during this difficult time. If you may be able to help with fostering after this pandemic, please visit our website to learn more and download an application form HERE

Unfortunately we are unable to accept any donated goods, either for the charity shop or pet goods, at this time. Many of our supporters are choosing to sell items themselves on eBay and donate the proceeds to us; if you are able to do this we would be very grateful. If you have newspapers or unused carpet you wish to donate please email info@raystede.org or call 01825 840252 to check if we can take them.
To assist with social distancing on site, we ask that existing volunteers do not attend Raystede at this time but please keep in touch with us and let us know if you’re happy to be ‘on stand-by’ should we need you. We are not able to recruit any new volunteers at the moment but we will update our website if this changes.
