Kitten Crisis!

We have recently been inundated with female cats and their litters as well as expectant mothers in the advanced stages of pregnancy. The cattery is just about ready to burst at the seams and we are in desperate need of foster carers.  Can you offer a mother cat the peace and quiet she needs to raise her babies? Early socialization and a calm environment is absolutely key for these young families and will stand them in good stead as confident, well mannered cats as they grow up. Ideally we are looking for homes without young children or other pets to allow for maximum chill out factor and to allow these families plenty of privacy. Fostering a mum and her kittens is an incredibly rewarding experience and means helping a mama when she most needs it and starting her litter off on the best possible footing for a happy life. Raystede covers all their costs and our experienced team is on hand with support and advice; all we need from you is dedication, commitment and love. If you think you can help please get in touch with our rehoming team on rehoming@raystede.org

Unfortunately our adult cats are also being affected by the kitten crisis. Rehoming numbers are very sadly down at the moment and we have several long stays including a number of pairs. Cats such as Ruby who has been waiting now since December 2017 and couples such as Benji and Ying are desperate to start a new life. Age means they are really struggling to compete against their adorable younger companions and it is adding to an already over stretched cattery list. If you are considering adoption, please do look at an adult cat. They have just as much to offer and are far more self sufficient than kittens. We are starting to worry Ruby may still be with us next Christmas as its only 5 months away now! (We can't believe it either!)
