We are looking for our biggest team ever for the 2021 BM Ride challenge- will you join Team Raystede? Perhaps you have just started cycling in the recent lockdown. Why not make it count and set yourself a training goal by signing up to the 2021 BM Ride?

We're so excited that Raystede has been chosen as one of the local charity partners for the 2021 Brighton Marathon weekend. It really couldn't have come at a better time, with Raystede being closed to the public for so long due to the coronavirus outbreak and losing £1,000 every single day the centre was shut.

We need you more than ever to cycle for the animals! You can click here to reserve one of our charity spaces.

The BM Ride is a unique cycle challenge and is apart of the Brighton Marathon weekend. Cyclists are able to pass iconic Brighton landmarks on closed roads, in this mass participation cycle ride. Cyclists will also enjoy views of the seafront and some challenging hills.

It will take place in the centre of Brighton and will start and finish on Hove Lawns on Sunday 12th September 2021. It will take place ahead of the BM10k and the Brighton Marathon. The BM Ride will offer cyclists of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the streets of Brighton & Hove, traffic free, for a distance of 50 km.

Whether a keen cyclist, cycling with your family, or looking for a new challenge, this event has something for everyone. Faster riders can start at the front whilst others follow on; this is not a race.

The registration fee is £20 and the fundraising target is £150. After signing up we will send you a welcome pack and your very own Raystede challenge event top. We will also give you support leading up to the event and will make lots of noise cheering you on during the day itself.

(*Your safety is our priority. If an event is cancelled due to the pandemic you will be given the option of taking on your challenge on an alternative date and if you have one of our charity places you can ask for a refund. (Check out our Covid Promise here.)

You will also receive the below directly from the organisers of the BM Weekend:

  • Chip timing
  • Official 2021 BM Ride garment – TBC
  • Medal
  • Pre-Ride Goody bag
  • Water station
  • Cheer points, bands and music on course
  • Fuel at the finish
  • Access to the Brighton Marathon Weekend Beach Village
  • Email communications with key info, advice and support
  • Participant Instructions

If you have already secured a spot in the 2021 BM Ride and have your OWN PLACE we would love for you to cycle for the animals at our centre. As you have your own space there is no fundraising target and we just appreciate any money you manage to raise for us. After signing up we will send you a welcome pack and Raystede top, and will be there to cheer you on during the race. Let us know you have your own space by following this link.

If you would like more information on the cycle ride, please visit the organiser's FAQ page or email jcampbell@raystede.org to learn more about taking part in this challenge for Raystede.

If you're not a cyclist but would like to support Team Raystede, then why not join our cheer squad and help by volunteering on the day? Perhaps you have friends or family running in the race or would like to help motivate our cyclists who are raising vital funds for the animals.

Whatever your reason, let us know that you're up for joining the cheer squad by emailing fundraising@raystede.org or by phoning us on 01825 840747. We will give you your very own Raystede T-shirt to wear and supply you with refreshments to keep you well fuelled so you're able to make lots of noise for the cyclists.
