Event Date

22 September 2021

On Wednesday 22nd September we have teamed up with Hatt Adventures and are challenging you to take part in a Night Kayak for the animals at Raystede.

You will take on this 6km kayak down the River Ouse, and will navigate your way down the river in the dark! Throughout the challenge your night vision will adapt to your new surroundings and you will have the chance to witness the natural environment around you on one of the most idyllic waterways in Sussex.

The challenge will start at 6.30 p.m. and you will watch the sunset as the experienced instructors from Hatt Adventures teach you the basics of kayaking before starting the challenge. This kayak is suitable for all abilities and you will be joined by like-minded animal lovers as you complete it.

The route is circular. We expect the challenge to finish around 8.30 p.m. and after completing it you'll be welcomed back and warmed up with hot drinks. You will also receive a finishers medal.

Sit-on-top kayaks will be provided as well as the paddles and buoyancy aids. Suitable clothing for the time of year should be worn and a complete change of clothes with appropriate footwear is also needed, as well as a head-torch.

To book onto this exciting challenge and help Raystede raise vital funds you can follow THIS LINK. The registration fee is £20 and we are asking that you raise £150 for the animals. Did you know that every £100 could buy a month's worth of food, toys and medication for one of our kennel dogs?

Places are limited on this challenge, so make sure you secure yours today by clicking here.

After signing up you will receive:

  • A welcome pack
  • A kit list
  • A Raystede T-shirt
  • Support leading up to your challenge
  • Support on the day
  • A kayak and buoyancy aid
  • Expert instructors to guide you
  • Hot drinks on completion of the challenge
  • A finisher's medal

If you have any questions at all, you can contact fundraising@raystede.org or phone 01825 840747.

By taking part in our Raystede Night Kayak you will be helping us to recover from the pandemic and care for animals like Frankie below. Frankie was found abandoned just after Christmas. He is proving to be a playful, affectionate boy. He has been introduced to Millie and Sweetpea our resident ‘old girl’ goats and they are teaching him Raystede manners and etiquette.

Without people like you taking on our Night Kayak challenge we simply would not be able to care for goats like Frankie and the other animals that so desperately need us. So BOOK ON TODAY BY FOLLOWING THIS LINK.
