2019 South Downs Way 27km Challenge

Will you conquer the South Downs Way for Raystede?

This new and exciting challenge will take place on Sunday 28th April and you will be guided by the wonderful Hatt Adventures. Hatt Adventures are a professional company who provide exciting experiences in the outdoors. Their aim is to inspire and install a sense of adventure in everyone, and they will be supplying a qualified mountain leader for the walk.

We are asking you to join us and help raise vital funds for the animals at Raystede by coming on this 27km South Downs Way Challenge. The walk will take you from Southease to Eastbourne and you will encounter beautiful scenery along the way as well as being accompanied by like-minded animal lovers.

We expect the walk to take between 6-8 hours and by taking on this challenge you will be helping us care for the animals at Raystede. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to keep Raystede running, and without people like you we would not be able to carry on our mission of giving animals a better life!

The registration fee is £20 or £25 if you are bringing your four-legged friend along too. The Fundraising Target is £150 per person. Did you know that for every £150 you raise it could help us provide life-saving surgery to a cat!

If you do decide to bring your dog along for the challenge, we must emphasise that your dog is your responsibility. You will know best if they will be able to complete the 27km challenge. Please make sure you have appropriate insurance cover for them and come equipped with plenty of water. If you would like your four-legged friend to join you on the walk, make sure you pick this option when booking on and we will send them a special dog bandana. Please also make sure you check out the 'South Downs National Park's Guide For Dog Walkers.'

After signing up you will receive a welcome pack, a Raystede t-shirt and support leading up to the event and on the day itself. Mountain safety equipment will be included on the day and after you complete the challenge you will receive a Raystede medal and certificate.

We will meet at Raystede on the day of the challenge and you will be able to leave your cars at our centre while you complete the walk. We will all travel together to the start point in a minibus and then pick you up at the finish to bring you back to Raystede. Euro selfdrive have been extremely generous to us, and are allowing us to borrow one of their 17 seater mini-buses for the challenge. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to keep Raystede running, so really can't thank Euro selfdrive enough!
