Winter Ride Out with Cinder Hill Equine Vets

Ride out and help us raise £2,500 for a new Weigh Bridge!

Calling all horse riders! At Raystede we badly need an Equine Weigh Bridge for our horses, donkeys and ponies. It will be a massive asset as it will allow us to get an exact weight of all of the herd members which is particularly important for our smaller and older patients as precise weights are important for accurate treatments. Monitoring of their weight over time is especially useful for our vets as well because it can really help with long term conditions and in rehabilitating rescue cases.

We have teamed up with our wonderful large animal vets, Cinder Hill Equine, to try and make it happen. The team at Cinder Hill will be releasing a guest blog once a month throughout the Winter about good practice for equine care in the colder months. They will also be spreading the word with their clients to try and drum up support for our campaign.

We are asking for individuals to either donate or even better get out there and take part in the Winter Ride Out Challenge. You can ride in any location and any distance; all we ask is that you hop on your horse and have a hack. Winter might mean shorter days and wet weather but it can also mean breathing taking canters across frosty fields and sparkling winter mornings that really blow the cobwebs away! We are running the challenge from November through to the end of Feb so there is plenty of time to take part. To take part in this terrific challenge we are asking that you pay £5 to register. We will offer the highest fundraiser a delicious cream tea for two from Cafe Raystede and the opportunity to meet our equine manager and some of the equine residents.

Saftey when out riding is key and the Winter sun can be a real devil! Drivers are often blinded when driving into it as its so low and wearing high vis clothing when out and about with your horse is even more crucial in days that can be both treacherously gloomy and blindingly bright! So, after signing up you will receive a special high vis tabard saying 'Ride 4 Raystede' as well as a welcome pack full of fundraising ideas to help you raise your target. After completing your challenge your horse will receive their very own Raystede rosette and you will receive a certificate to recognise your amazing contribution to buying this essential bit of kit.

We love seeing photos of our supporters and their animals so please send us any you are happy to share of you and your horse and we will put them on our social media alongside the running total to say thank you and inspire others! Go Team Weigh Bridge!
