Cat Microchipping Day - Friday 7 June

Having your cat microchipped is the best way of being reunited with them if they go missing. From Monday 10 June 2024, a new law comes in requiring cats in England to be microchipped and registered on a database by the time they’re 20 weeks old.

The majority of stray cats that come into Raystede’s care are not microchipped or have details that aren’t up to date. This makes it very difficult for us to reunite lost cats with their owners.

We are hosting a cat microchipping day on Friday 7 June. Tickets are limited so be sure to book your cat in soon. If you miss out, please contact your vet practice to get your cat microchipped before Monday 10 June. Some vets may be offering reduced prices in the lead up to the microchipping deadline so it’s a good idea to ring around vets in your local area.

Remember, it’s already the law to have dogs microchipped and registered from the age of 8 weeks, as well as all horses/ponies/donkeys. We also recommend microchipping rabbits, tortoises, and ferrets.

We are asking for a £5 donation per cat to contribute towards some of our costs, to be paid on the day. Donations given by card are preferred.
