Love at last for Nigel

Do you remember our lonely heart Nigel from Channel 4’s Animal Rescue live last year?

Nigel is our resident guinea fowl who was missing the company of his own kind and had taken an unfortunate shine to Gregory Peck the turkey’s wife, Mistletoe! This love triangle was not ideal and so the hunt was on to try and find Nigel a home with other Guinea Fowl. Months passed and with no suitable offers, it was starting to look as if Nigel would remain a bachelor.

However, fate intervened when the RSPCA got in touch.

They had taken on over 200 birds of various species from a property after the owner died and the birds were found living in unsuitable conditions. Raystede agreed to take in two Guinea fowl and six geese and finally, Nigel was introduced to two new ladies. After some initial tension when Nigel was extremely wary of his new girlfriends (it has been a while since he had seen another guinea fowl) Nadine and Nicole now follow him everywhere and the little trio are never apart.

Projects like our new corn shed are essential to helping us provide the care that birds like Nigel, Nicole and Nadine need and we have just another two weeks to go during which our wonderful corporate partner, The House Nameplate Company will match any donation given. Make your donation go further this month by donating today.
