Social Media volunteer

Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare is based in Ringmer, East Sussex and our mission is to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary and give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect.

We rehome hundreds of animals each year, from dogs and cats to chickens, rabbits and other small animals as well as providing sanctuary for alpacas, horses and wild fowl, all made possible thanks to our network of staff, supporters and volunteers.

A bit about the role

Social media is key to staying in touch with our supporters, rehomers and donors and we are looking for a social media volunteer to use their passion and knowledge of social media to raise the profile of Raystede and help raise awareness of our work. A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, give people the support and knowledge they need to care for animals. You will be representing Raystede and our brand, working closely on a major new project, implementing hashtags and replying to various enquiries and notifications across social media platforms.

This is a volunteer role and can potentially be done from home or in the office during any spare time you have.

What you can expect to be doing

  • Preparing content to share via social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Promoting the work of Raystede across social media
  • Monitor and manage social media platforms
  • Helping to develop and deliver appealing, relevant and consistent messaging across a variety of digital media channels,

You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team.

We’re looking for someone with

  • A passion for social media and experience of social networking
  • Strong attention to detail, highly literate and able to cope with an influx of social media activity
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident to work alone or in a team
  • An understanding of Raystede and what we do is desirable
  • Has own transport to get to Raystede as required

Time Expectation

We are looking for someone who can spend 2-3 hours a week in this role, although through August we will be looking for more hours as our new project develops, this can be shared by more than one volunteer.
