Calm quiet walks help Toby to focus

Toby is much calmer on quiet walks when there are few people around. This type of environment helps to keep his stress levels low and he begins to focus on his handler.

At this stage we have no expectations of him, he's getting treats for just interacting with us. You can see how quickly Toby is learning to focus and look to us for reassurance.

Toby may be little however he is very strong on the lead! The focus and interaction exercises also help ease him into walking on a looser lead. He pulls because he is busy, eager and energetic and wants to get places. At times, his pulling may be linked to the underlying worry or anxiety that something scary may appear (like a stranger getting too close). As Toby learns new behaviours and his emotional state becomes more relaxed, the frantic pulling will calm down too.
