Help safeguard the future of injured and unwanted animals in need

Become a Friend of Raystede and help rescue and rehome animals in need

A regular gift can help safeguard the future of Raystede and the thousands of animals that rely on us. Your gift will mean that we can make plans, prepare for the unexpected and be secure in the knowledge that we can keep being there for injured and unwanted animals for many years to come. We need to raise around £6,500 a day to cover Raystede’s animal care costs. We care for over 1,800 animals a year across our 43 acre site. We rely on “Friends” like you to help us alleviate animal cruelty rehome cats, dogs and other animals and to provide sanctuary for animals in need, and educate people about how to care for animals. With our “Friends” we can be there every day for animals who need us.

A brief history

In 1952 Miss Raymonde-Hawkins established Raystede and rallied a group of friends who cared about animals just as much as she did to support the charity’s vital work. Together they made it their mission to stand up for animals experiencing neglect, abandonment and abuse. They were known as the Friends of Raystede and we are proud that this friendship continues today. Our Friends scheme is one of the oldest of its kind in the UK and has helped the charity grow into the wonderful animal welfare centre and sanctuary it is today.

"I started off with a great deal of love and encouragement from many friends. Hundreds of friends came to start off this new Sussex centre for animal welfare, destined to develop more speedily than I had ever intended."

- Miss Raymonde-Hawkins, official opening ceremony for Raystede, 1955.

Your monthly gift means we can continue to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and provide lifelong sanctuary to thousands of abandoned animals. Become a Friend of Raystede and help us be there for them today, tomorrow and in the future.

We rely on your donations to help animals like Topsy.

When Topsy arrived with us, he was severely underweight and needed a lot of care. We couldn't help the amount of animals we do without your support. Please donate to help more animals get the care they deserve.
