Book your free visit!

It is essential to book a ticket as visitor numbers are limited for the welfare of our animals, and to provide a better visitor experience.

The area around the lakes and the dog walk are currently closed due to the Project Terrapin construction.

Aviaries close at 2pm every day for the welfare of our birds.

Adopt aviary birds

Adopting through a rehoming centre can take a little extra time and patience, but the rewards are worth it.

Before you start your journey...

Adopting an animal is a big decision, have you thought about what is involved? Take a look at our care guides to learn how to prepare for, and look after your new animal, read our adoption process and submit your application online.

Although they may not be shown on our website, we often have cockatiels, budgies, canaries, and other finches looking for new homes. Please complete an application form if you are interested in adopting smaller aviary birds; please note that all birds need to be kept in an aviary – we don’t rehome to caged homes.

Our parrots and cockatoos usually stay with us for life due to their long lifespans and ongoing medical issues. If you have the facilities to care for a larger bird, please contact us at info@raystede.org.

Adoption Fees

  • Finch, canary: £5
  • Budgie, cockatiel: £10

Please remember …

Once you have registered with us, there's no need to submit another application form. To follow up on an existing application, please email us at info@raystede.org.

Animals in crisis - please donate to our urgent Christmas appeal!

When Layla arrived at Raystede we were astonished by her condition. This year we have had 1,076 requests to take in dogs, like Layla, who can no longer be cared for by their owners.

This is an animal welfare crisis.
