Blaze

Blaze

Hello, my name is Blaze and I have been in kennels for nearly six months. I am a stunning looking 3 year old medium sized male mongrel (probably staffie cross). I have received extra support and training from the kennel staff who all think I am a great dog and cannot understand why I keep being passed by. I am good out on walks, polite, enjoy training, playing and having lots of cuddles. I am learning how to behave around dogs and hope to be able to play off-lead with them soon. I could possibly be trained to live with a confident cat and could live with sensible older children. I do need time to trust people, tend to be quiet and keep away from strangers and I do seek a lot of reassurance from my friends when I become worried. I need a family that will be patient with me, understand when I am worried, continue with building my confidence and give me a chance to come out of my shell and show my great character. I will require a high level of commitment in the early stages as you get to know me and settle me into your family but I will try hard to be good, I will be loyal and I will fetch tennis balls for you as long as you can keep throwing them!

My name is Red and I am an active, attentive and inquisitive 2 year old male Husky. I was rescued from appalling conditions at a puppy farm, confined and unused to human contact. I have been undergoing extensive rehabilitation and though still nervous I am ready to start the process of finding a family to call my own. I will need experienced, patient and very committed people to continue to show me the kindness I need and support my development. I would benefit from living with other dogs but not cats and children would be considered if older. I will have specific needs from a home environment and the ability of the family to continue my rehabilitation. Please research my breed type’s character too.

Each year we receive some 1500 new animals at Raystede. For many of them what they most need is a loving home where they can make a fresh start. When we rehome an animal, our job is a bit like a dating agency, finding the best match between each animal and their possible future owner.

Every animal has different characteristics and habits which may or may not fit with your home life. That is why at Raystede we take such special care to get to know every animal before rehoming.

For example, for our dogs and cats we use a traffic light system which gives valuable information about the needs of each dog, both to our visitors and volunteers. Only then does the matchmaking begin!
