Please Note!

Due to the current Avian Influenza Prevention Zone, our Aviaries and fowl areas remain closed to the public. Good news - the terrapin sanctuary and dog walk have now reopened. We do NOT have this virus at Raystede. We are still very much open and welcome visitors to the rest of the site.

We’re giving you the month of May to walk 50 miles your way – you can move at the gentle pace of a tortoise or stride out like a speedy greyhound.

Take part in memory of someone special or a beloved pet, team up with friends, colleagues or your school, or set yourself an ambitious fitness goal.

No matter why you walk, your miles will make a real difference to the animals and people who need us.

By taking part, you can help more dogs like Waldo.

Waldo arrived at Raystede as a 12‑year‑old stray, found just before Christmas in a heartbreaking state; he was thin, weak and clearly deprived of proper care.

With a tailored plan to help him gain weight, ease his pain and rebuild strength, he slowly flourished. Despite everything, he remained gentle, chatty and endlessly charming, winning over every person that he met.

Finding the right home took time due to his age and medical needs, but Waldo never lost hope. And finally, the perfect family came along. Now he enjoys a big garden, cosy fireside naps and all the comfort he deserves.

Walk 50 Miles in May and raise funds to help other dogs who so desperately need Raystede’s help.

The difference your money makes...

  • £60 could help us care for a cat for a day at Raystede.
  • £120 could cover the costs of settling in a new dog arriving at Raystede.
  • £200 could help us look after a rabbit for a month at Raystede.
