Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex visits Raystede

We were pleased to welcome our Patron-in-Chief, Andrew Blackman, HM Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex to Raystede. He was met by Derwyn Jones, Chair of Trustees, Gemma Price, Head of Prevention and Education and Miriam Dowding, Operations Manager.

Mr Blackman toured our Cattery and Kennels where he learnt more about our plans to make significant improvements to our animal welfare facilities including to our veterinary surgery. He was also introduced to members of Raystede’s Education team and found out more about our Family Learning Days which for this October Half Term had a guinea pig theme.

The Lord-Lieutenant said: “It was wonderful to return to Raystede and to hear more about the charity’s plans to improve its Cattery, Kennels and veterinary surgery, all vital to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, now and for the future.

“I was also pleased to see how busy the site was, with so many families enjoying the free Family Learning Day. Education around responsible pet ownership is such an important issue, and it was heartening to see how engaged the young visitors were. As Patron-in-Chief, I am proud that Raystede continues to deliver free educational programmes like its Family Learning Days and community pet advice events, which make such a valuable contribution to improving animal welfare.”
