Please Note!

Due to the current Avian Influenza Prevention Zone, our Aviaries and fowl areas remain closed to the public. Good news - the terrapin sanctuary and dog walk have now reopened. We do NOT have this virus at Raystede. We are still very much open and welcome visitors to the rest of the site.

Did you know?

  • Rabbits are prey animals and are very good at hiding what they feel. That’s why giving your rabbits a regular health check is important to keep them healthy. Sometimes, even the smallest changes can be a sign of a poorly rabbit.
  • Rabbits are social animals, and they depend on each other for security and comfort and can get stressed and unhappy when they are on their own – if you find yourself with a lone rabbit, contact Raystede to help you find a companion.
  • Rabbits need a lot of space to hop, stretch, run, jump and dig. Their enclosure should measure at least 3m x 2m x 1m with plenty of enrichment such as toys, tunnels, hiding places and digging trays to encourage their natural behaviours.

Speak to our experts on the day to discover even more fascinating facts about these inquisitive animals.

Visitor testimonials from last year's All About Rabbits event

I thought the event was brilliant! We got lots of helpful tips and advice which was excellent because we have been given the wrong advice for so long!’

‘All About Rabbits was a great event. As we’re planning to adopt, it was really useful to chat about the available pairs. The lady we spoke to was so friendly and helpful’

Our favourite part of the event was talking to the volunteers and staff. I have rescued and had rabbits for over ten years and it was so lovely to speak to people who really know their stuff.’

‘Everyone I spoke to was passionate about what they do (and about rabbits). Thank you!’
