Some of the dogs we take in need urgent medical care or are traumatised by neglect or abuse. An increasing number have not had the opportunity to be socialised and need kindness, patience, understanding and a positive training experience. By becoming a Raystede Kennels Sponsor, you enable us to continue giving dogs the chance to find happiness again.

Our Kennels Team recently helped a timid Saluki cross, Whisper, to grow in confidence, ready to be adopted. Whisper arrived at Raystede in February 2024 and hadn’t received much training before. She appeared very nervous of strangers, other dogs and being handled. As she got used to her surroundings, she started to bark loudly at both people and dogs. Patience is everything when training a nervous dog. Over the 15 months Whisper was with us, we gave her lots of positive encouragement to help her change her emotional response around people and other dogs.
