My previous owner became unwell and could no longer meet my needs, which made me noisy, frustrated, and lonely. Raystede provides me with a safe environment where I can fly and have lots of space, with enrichment to keep my clever brain busy. I love visitors but I can be a bit picky as I don’t like, or trust everyone. I enjoy being the centre of attention but, can get over stimulated very quickly I prefer to be spoken to gently with a soft voice, which helps keep me relaxed and happy. If you listen carefully you may hear me say ‘hello darling’.
As part of a wider organisational review, we will be phasing out on-site care of aviary birds.
This will happen over a very gradual period – with no fixed closure date - to allow for the relocation and rehoming of animals, with all such decisions being welfare-led.
For our sponsor bird, Ollie, nothing will change in the immediate future.
He will remain at Raystede for the time being. We will continue to keep Ollie's sponsors updated.
