We normally have up to 30 rabbits in our care at any one time. Ash and Dusty were at Raystede for nearly two years. When they first arrived, they were scared and frightened, but they soon showed us their huge personalities and love of food and mischief!
Interestingly, they were almost identical sisters who arrived very attached to each other. It can be difficult to rehome bonded pairs as people are often looking for single companions to adopt for their own rabbit. Raystede offers a rabbit bonding service for single rabbits, but when rabbits are already a pair, we rehome them together. We’re so pleased that Ash and Dusty’s new owners were in the position to adopt a pair of rabbits.
Thanks to the support of our wonderful supporters, we recently refurbished our Rabbitry, which involved building 16 new sheds to replace our old hutches. The new sheds are a vast improvement for many of our rabbits as they have been designed to accommodate those individuals with mobility issues, such as arthritis. They are also better for giant breeds who can struggle with the smaller areas and ramps.
