Adopt a Cat - Adoption Process

Adopt a Cat - The Raystede Adoption Guide

We have a variety of cats who need a loving home here at Raystede.

It's easy to choose a younger cat when you are looking to adopt, however we urge you to consider that an older cat might be a better option.

Speak to our team oto find out why an older cat can be a great addition to the family and to get more info.

Cat Adoption Process - First things first…

We are currently only accepting applications to adopt via email; please complete an 'Application to Adopt a Cat' form and email it to

After the Covid-19 pandemic, we will revert to our usual rehoming process, as follows:

If you would like to offer a new home to one of our cats there are a few simple guidelines to follow:

  • We take particular care when rehoming a cat to a family with young children.
  • You need to have access to a safe outside area.
  • If you are planning a holiday or moving home within three months of registering for rehoming a cat , please consider delaying your application until you know your home life will not be disrupted.
  • If you wish to rehome a kitten someone will have to be at home during the day for the first few months until the cat is properly settled

You can be assured that all our cats are:

  • Health checked by a vet
  • Assessed for their character and temperament
  • Neutered
  • Vaccinated
  • Treated against fleas and worms
  • Micro chipped in case of loss
  • Given four weeks free Petplan insurance
  • We are also happy to give you any follow up advice you need once your cat is home with you

Cat Adoption Fees

As we are a charity we do ask for a contribution towards some of our costs, including the cost of rescuing the cats, running costs and on-going care.

Adoption fees are:

  • Cats 8 years of age and over - £60.
  • Cats 7 months to 7 years - £90.
  • Kittens 9 weeks up to and including 6 months - £110
